LED in the lead with JAPTH and VANMOKUM

VANMOKUM and sustainable LED design collective JAPTH are joining forces. VANMOKUM will be responsible for exclusive and worldwide distribution. Aart van Rooij and Eduard Sweep will continue to focus on JAPTH's product development and marketing.

AMSTERDAM - VANMOKUM and sustainable LED design collective JAPTH are joining forces. VANMOKUM will be responsible for exclusive and worldwide distribution. Aart van Rooij and Eduard Sweep will continue to focus on JAPTH's product development and marketing.

JAPTH is an initiative of designers Aart and Eduard. They have been working together for years and have years of experience in interior and product design. JAPTH stands for high quality, responsible use of materials, and subtle design with a distinct character.
The production takes place in the Netherlands using socially responsible and sustainable methods and ways of working. The lamps are manufactured by hand by people who have difficulty finding a job on their own.

In addition, in each of the designs, the possibilities of LED are optimally used, with a quirky collection as a result. For this, JAPTH collaborates with well-known Dutch names in the design world and young up-and-coming talent from its own soil. The design collection includes various unique lamps: from floor lamps to pendant lamps, for living rooms to shop interiors, functional, timeless, but above all surprising. All this can be found in JAPTH. In short: Just A Perfect Thing.

Founded in 2011, Amsterdam-based VANMOKUM has been responsible for the product development, production, and distribution of various iconic high-end lighting brands such as Graypants, Frama and Droog. VANMOKUM is also an importer of Ay illuminate and Seletti. VANMOKUM supplies its lighting brands to both the best furniture and design shops and to the project market, for which in recent years impressive installations have been realised for

hotels, restaurants, and offices of renowned clients such as the Hilton, AIRBNB, Starbucks, Google, Coca Cola, and ABN Amro.

Arno Ruijzenaars of VANMOKUM: "The cooperation with JAPTH fits exactly into our strategy to expand VANMOKUM both as an importer and as a brand owner in the lighting category in the coming years. It's very cool to start working with Aart and Eduard, but also with Richard Hutten and the other designers of this label!

Aart van Rooij: 'We found an ideal partner in VANMOKUM to further market JAPTH together. With their years of experience and expertise in the international design market, we are convinced that with the enthusiastic VANMOKUM team, we can realise our joint creative ambition!

What will you do when you need to move on, but have no energy left. What will you do when you are so overwhelmed by impressions that you need some serenity to absorb them before moving on? For Dutch Design Week 2021 labels JAPTH & Studio ONS prepared a joint presentation called 'Loading... '. In the charging station for electric cars at Strijp-S both labels show how their vision of serenity, minimalism and sustainability materialised in their new designs.

In these hectic times there is much need for recharging oneselves. JAPTH & Studio ONS share a vision. The presentation of the new designs of both labels in the Charging Lounge, enable visitors to recharge themselves with new energy. These new designs are innovative, sustainable, recyclable and circular. They are partly produced (in the Netherlands) by people with a distance to the labor market.

JAPTH, which stands for Just A Perfect Thing, is the Dutch design label of modern and sustainable indoor LED lamps from designers such as Richard Hutten, Yksi Design, Studio Daphna Laurens, Patrick and Riccardo Belli and Willem Schouten. JAPTH presents the newest items in its collection: the Dodeca, designed by Willem Schouten, and the Kingpin, a design of Studio Daphna Laurens.

The JAPTH collection includes high quality indoor LED lamps. These lamps fully leverage the design and lighting possibilities of the newest LED technology. The possibility of replacing parts makes them sustainable. The lamps are partly produced (in the Netherlands) by people with a distance to the labor market

Studio ONS (Designstudio Nathalie Schellekens), who designs for Fatboy and Borek among others, presents in the Charging Lounge her latest collection THE PROPS. The PROPS is a spectacular collection of high quality printed wall and floor carpets. The name comes from the Dutch word for wads: prop. The wads of paper with discarded ideas on the floor of her studio inspired Nathalie Schellekens to create this new collection of carpet patterns. The enormously enlarged wads and the almost psychedelic patterns of the specials make you stop for a second. They seem to be three-dimensional ....

Winner Product Awards: Wheel lamp

The Wheel (design: Richard Hutten) of JAPTH is the winner of the prestigious Sustainable Lighting Product Awards 2020. The Sustainable Interior Design Awards are the annual awards for the most revolutionary and sustainable design products and the most innovative and sustainable design brand. With the competition, the organization invites brands and design studios to contribute a sustainable product or brand within the home & living segment. The organization's goal is to promote the development of sustainable products that last a lifetime and have a positive impact on people, planet and profit.

The Wheel lamp scores convincingly on five of the six criteria of the Sustainable Product Evaluation Model. The lamp is produced locally and is high quality and repairable. The materials, including the LED lamps, are made locally. Japth uses materials that are already circular in the base and are also used in other sectors. These are steel, aluminium and acrylate. Because they are not glued, the lamps are easy to repair and later disassemble. As a result, the materials remain valuable for future generations of lamps. Japth works with people with a distance to the labour market. "The Wheel lamp fits the trend that sustainable may also be beautiful," says José Molenaar.

Read the full jury report here and find out more about the Sustainable Interior Design Awards of Flinders. The professional jury of the Sustainable Interior Design Awards consists of designer Peter van de Water, editor-in-chief of the interior magazine Eigen Huis & Interieur José Molenaar and lecturer in Citylogistics Walther Ploos van Amstel. During the Award Show, the professional jury announced a winner for each type of award. In the video you will find more information about their working method, what typifies a sustainable product and which aspects play an important role in choosing the winners.

A festival where Old Masters act as muses for contemporary designers. Who conceives of such a notion? Nicole Uniquole and Willem Jan Hoogsteder have once again joined their unique forces. With Masterly The Hague they have firmly established a new destination in royal The Hague for art and design lovers.

The allure of the second edition of Masterly The Hague, held from the 19th to the 22nd of September 2019, is unparalleled in The Netherlands. At four distinguished locations around the Hofvijver 25 staged style rooms are set up. Here the selected participants present their new designs in close proximity to the 17th century artworks; their main source of inspiration, their muse.

Just A Perfect Collaboration

JAPTH is a proud participant in this royal event. Several products of JAPTH, including the chandelier 'Wheel' - a design by Dutch designer Richard Hutten - will beautifully illuminate the 17th-century style rooms: a perfect combination of modern Dutch Design with historical art.

Discover?

Following the succes of the first edition in 2018 more locations are subjected to a royal transformation. The former restaurant Royal at the Lange Voorhout is given a makeover. Masterly The Hague also hosts a beautiful series of culture-historical lectures. De Bijenkorf once again creates window displays in Masterly style and allure. A free guide shows all designers, as well as twelve prime locations with that typical Hague atmosphere in the Museum Quarter, so befitting of this festival. On Saturday the 21st of September at 100:00 am, the Hester van Eeghen Leather Design Award ceremony takes place.

Are you interested in discovering the beauty of Dutch Masters through the eyes of contemporary designers? Tickets are available via www.masterlythehague.com.
